Our amputation resources have been developed to support patients who are facing an amputation or have undergone an amputation following a primary bone cancer diagnosis.

Being told you or a loved one needs to have a limb amputated can be a scary and distressing experience. You may be anxious about what life will be like following an amputation. Adapting to life as an amputee can be challenging, but many people still enjoy a good quality of life.

To help answer your questions and provide reassurance on life following an amputation, we have produced a series of videos featuring bone cancer patients who have had an amputation. In the videos they share with you, in their own words, how they have adapted to life as an amputee. The videos cover three main areas – Before your Amputation, Immediately after Surgery and Living beyond an amputation.

Before your amputation - Preparation

Before your amputation - Helping others to understand

Immediately after surgery – Pain

Immediately after surgery - Getting moving again

Immediately after surgery - Finding what works for you

Living beyond an amputation - A different way of living

Living beyond an amputation - Sport and getting active

Living beyond an amputation - Support

Living beyond an amputation – Words of wisdom
